"Ah yes, she did of course; what a nuisance; and felt very sisterly and oddly conscious at the same time of her hat."

Mrs Dalloway by Virginia Woolf

Spamming my blog with a few Mrs Dalloway quotes. I've wanted to read this for a long time, ever since seeing a quote in Lynne Truss's Eats, Shoots & Leaves and thinking, "THAT is how to use semi-colons". I feel a little bit ashamed that I'm so late to Virginia Woolf (I'm trying to make up for it - I immediately read A Room of One's Own after Mrs Dalloway) and I think she may have pipped Octavia E. Butler as my favourite author.
